The Zika virus has the world’s attention. Just like the Ebola outbreak in 2014, the Zika virus is causing fear and panic in countries on every continent. The Zika virus is not a new virus, according to Brazil’s top medical expert, Sergio Cortes. Zika was first identified in Uganda in the late 1940s, but the symptoms of the virus were so mild that many of the infected people never knew they had a virus.
Dr. Cortes has posted a lot of information about the Zika virus outbreak in Brazil on his official website. Cortes believes researchers have made some progress as far as connecting Zika with the increase in the number of cases of microcephaly that have been reported in the state of Parnaiba, but there is much more to learn about the virus.
One of the main questions of why is the virus spreading so quickly through South America has been answered. Scientists know the carrier of the virus, the Aedes aegypti mosquito, thrives in hot weather. Virtually any size pool of water, dirty or clean, is a potential breeding ground for the mosquito. It’s summer in South America and the mosquito population is thriving, so the conditions are right for the rapid spread of Zika.
There have been reports that the virus can spread through human contact and if that is true, then the Zika virus outbreak could be bigger than the Ebola outbreak of 2014. Cortes recently said there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding what the virus is capable of once it enters the human body. The microcephaly connection seems to be true, but scientists now say the virus is a mutated form of the virus that appeared in Africa during the 1950s. This mutated strain of the virus could cause a number of health issues, according to Dr. Cortes. Infected individuals in Brazil are showing signs of hearing loss, impaired vision and intellectual slowness.
The world is waiting patiently for a Zika vaccine, but developing a vaccine is not easy because of the unknowns associated with the mutated form of the Zika virus. Scientist know the virus can remain in saliva, blood, urine and semen for an extended period, and that would suggest the virus could be passed from one person to another. Dr. Cortes posted information about human to human transmission of the virus on his LinkedIn page.
Cortes also tweets information about research developments. The Sergio Cortes Facebook page has more information about Brazil’s Zika virus outbreak.
China’s economy continues to struggle even after the measures taken by People’s Bank of China to flood local banks with money. Speaking at an economic meeting held in Sri Lanka billionaire investor George Soros warned investors to be vigilant of the economic crisis facing global markets. This warning comes as measures of volatility like Chicago Board Options Exchange, Nikkei Stock Average Volatility Index and Merrill Lynch index rise up to 13 percent, 43 percent, and 5.7 percent respectively. This is attributed to the crisis facing China as it struggles to find a foothold of its depreciating currency.
China’s economy is shifting from manufacturing and investing to a service and consumer one, this is all transferring effects to other currencies and stock markets. This year alone equities throughout the world lost $2.5 trillion with Chinese stocks trade closing on Thursday for the rest of the day. George Soros noted that the adjustment problems in China remind him of the 2008 crisis. This wasn’t the first time Soros warned of a crisis similar to that of 2008.
George Soros was born in Budapest in the year 1930 and later fled communist regime in the year 1947 for England. He joined London School of Economics and later after graduating he moved to U.S., where he began his career in New York. Soros became famous for his investing skills particularly in the year 1992 where he gained $1 billion after betting that U.K. would be forced to lower the value of the pound. He’s also a best-selling author of fifteen books that shed light on business and investments.
His hedge-fund firm has gained an average of 20 percent per annum from the year 1969 to 2011. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Soros has a net worth of approximately $27.3 billion. He once wrote that he attributes his independence and courage to take a stand during controversial issues to his success in financial markets.
He is the founder of Open Society Foundation an organization that aims at creating a society where all human rights are respected, the government is accountable to its citizens, and no one has control over the truth. He began his philanthropy in 1979 when he offered scholarships to marginalized black students in South Africa during the Apartheid era. He also created Central European University after the fall of Berlin wall as a move to promote creative thinking. These are just, but a few of the philanthropic acts of Solos for more information on his activities click here.
The famous Black Panther Cam Newton is making headlines with his play, fashion sense and now his name. It seems that some people can’t resist the urge to call attention to Cam’s similarities to a another black panther that bore the same name.
Is Huey Related to Cam
Huey P. Newton is the most under-rated civil rights leader in American history and his name bears an undeserved negative connotation. This black man fought so that I could become a successful writer like Jon Urbana became as well. He lived in an era when public lynchings were still a common place occurrences and he decided to do something about it. The obvious connection between he and the famous QB would be the same last name. However, Newton is a fairly common last name so it might just be a coincidence. However, the two men do bare a striking resemblance, especially when one looks at Pictures of Huey in his 20’s.
Fight the Power Cam
Cam Newton has been very outspoken about the treatment of black QB’s by the NFL, and he threatens to break the mold of the ‘feet-of-lead’ QB. If the Panthers beat the Bronco’s in Super Bowl 50, people will be forced to reevaluate mobile QB’s which could lead to the presence of more black QB’s in the NFL. Either way, I’m sure Huey P. would be proud of Cam if the original black Panther named Newton was alive to see this moment.

The teams have decided to disinfect the municipal water on a daily basis. The Department of health has also been on the frontline in recommending daily disinfection of Xerem water to everybody living in Xerem. To this effect, the state government has been able to deliver 10000 bottles of sodium hypochlorite to Caxias.
